N00b question.  Reply with quote

Ok, so I'm a relative n00b to all of this, and I've got what's probably a pretty stupid question.

Right now I have a Roth IRA set up, and it's at American Funds. Right now I'm happy with everything, but I'm wondering what would happen if I wanted to switch things to like an index fund, etc. somewhere like T. Rowe Price or Vanguard... would it be possible to just transfer money from the IRA at American Funds to an IRA at Vanguard, etc. without being penalized?

I realize this is probably a stupid question, but I'm just trying to think to the future in case that's something I might be interested in. Thanks for any help.
