So I understand that a percentage of my lump payment that the service will disburse amongst my creditors will be keep as a fee.
There are a lot of different companies offering these services. One that I may be settling on has been around since 1966 and is in the BBB, they are called "credit counseling servie of Sacramento" AKA "BYDesign financial services" I inquired first at credit solutions.com and did not like their pushiness to get it done NOW.
My biggest question is that�. Do they work? Are there any companies that are superior to others as far as ability to get your rate down and/or have minimal fees? And when one is really at the point of seeing the end of the sidewalk what other choices do they have to avoid a lien, or bankruptcy.
And what about your overall credit after going through one of these services?

Well I must say that after doing some research.... and gettting some input from y'all... My bro made a call to BofA credit and Chase and they have in house programs to help you thourgh hard times. He has had a disability for over a year now and his two cc bills were killing him. Well with the ptogram that the CC companies put him on it cut his monthly bill by a little over 50%.
The By design folks also suggest that he try that route before going for a DMP.
