A newbie's problem |

I never got a credit card while I was in college. Now that I've graduated, what's the best way to get one?
Thanks in advance....

Try your bank, usually they'll give you offers over the phone or at the bank counter when you are checking your balance or depositing.

Start with department store cards. Don't let anyone talk you into carrying a balance/paying interest "to establish credit history". Use the card, pay the bill.

Get the best deal you can get, don't be taken in by "introductory" (teaser) rates.
A second consideration is the establishment and maintenance of your credit rating. One factor is account age, so it makes sense to pick a card/bank that tends to offer reasonable rates over the long run, because you are more likely to keep it for a long time.
Oh yeah, and just because you have a credit card, you don't have to use it. Be reasonable about debt.

If you have been with a particular bank for a number of years then trhey will be more likely to offer you one than anyone else so I would advise going to them and ask them what they can offer you.
Seeing as you are a first time credit card holder I would advise the lowest interest rate and interet free days as possible.
