Hey, I'm new to doing my own taxes and am using turbo tax. I want to e-file but would rather not pay the 14.95 to file each (federal and state). Any way i can take the return i just created and e-file for free (or less somewhere else). I also have to do to more returns in additon to my own

The return you created on Turbo will cost you to print it out - so if you want to go to one of the free sites, you'll have to start over.
I suppose you can refer back to the form you filled out on Turbo and compare it to the one you create at the free site, in order to make sure you're doing it right. Or you could just bite the bullet and pay for using the software. $15 is pretty cheap for a tax return...

I agree 15 bucks aint bad for a return... but there are other free sites out their that will e-file your fed for free and sometimes state...

I think $15 to file a return is crap. If the IRS wants to promote a paperless society, then they need to make it free or make it a tax CREDIT rather than a deduction.
Did you get the Turbo Tax software? Print out the OCR version (one or two pages) and mail that. Cost: ~40 cents...37 cents if you use fringe benefits at work.
I'm all about moving electrons vice moving...anything that requires me to get out of my comfortable chair, but I intend to keep as much of my money where it belongs: MY pocket.
If you want it in a hurry because you are due a large refund, then shame on you: adjust your W4 to make your withholdings to near zero owed/refunded.

I am getting unhappy with Turbo Tax also. I have been using it so long so I am too lazy to switch. But I agree with Rolo that the fee for e-file is absurd. The did get me for a couple of years, just because, again, the fact that I am lazy!!
If someone show me that there is a good alternative, I will be there next year. Another beef with TurboTax: After I was done I was trying to use the tax prediction tool. I had to enter the same info twice (the income prejection). And it doesn't even do the California estimate for me. I think that part of the software is crap!!

The prices at my tax site are reasonable. Efile is free and so is the state return, including multiple states. Your paying for basic tax preparation. No extra fees for additional schedules.
