you're net worth should be (Annual Salary x age divided by 10)

Sample
41 Yr old, 40,000 annual salary = 1,640,000 divided by 10 = $164,000.00

emergency fund should be the total amount needed for monthly expenses x 4, 6, or 8 months. Time is determined by how stable you income is!

If you are investeted in the TSP you should be putting at least 5% to the the full government match. As I am getting close to retirement, I'm putting in 22%.

saving money on every purchase helps in the long run  Reply with quote

You can make smart investments in all of your purchases. Example, when you are car shopping you should consider which car company has the best warranty. Good read: https://www.chrysler-factory-warranty.com/best-car-company-warranty/ This will allow you to save more money in the long run and give you more opportunity for investing. Most people are living to reactive to even begin to think about investing. If this is you start thinking about every purchase you have to make as an investment. Then figure out the smartest route.
