Automatic Bill Payments |
|
|
Bills bills bills. The power bill, the gas bill, the phone bill, the credit card bill, the mortgage payment, the cable bill, the water bill, it goes on and on... I hate paying bills, but even more I hate paying late fees on my bills. It wasn't really so much a matter of having the money to pay the bills, but rather my procrastination, so I finally got my act together and setup automated payments on all of my bills. Some creditors allowed me to do a direct withdrawal from my bank account, and some allowed me to charge the bill to a credit card. Now I that I don't have to 'do the bills' anymore, I don't have to spend that time on the tedious process of bill paying, I don't have to worry about stamps and mailing and licking those envelopes. Plus, I'm never late on my bills so I save money on late fees, and my credit is protected because I'm not getting black marks on my credit report for paying late. Just wish that I'd set up my auto payments earlier.

I started a healthcare tech service company two years ago - Automatic Bank Draft is the ONLY way I accept payment. It is a huge time saver for all involved. It was surprisingly easy to get my company set up - all I needed was my corporate info, some forms signed and a nominal reg fee.
It's also a cinch to get new clients entered into the system. It doesn't just save me time, it improves the quality of my life. Don't mean to sound overdramatic, but it's true!

Euler, so are these bank draft payments recurring or one-time deals?

Recurring, but I must login to manually authorize the transfer and ensure the numbers are correct. The bank provides great tools to make this a very fast and easy process. It's even fun.

Apart from credit cards there are two main facilities for regular payments in the Brit banking system, standing orders (the original system) and direct debits (which are automated). Although I prefer to use standing orders one is often not given the option as many payees will only accept direct debits as a basis for doing business.
So most of my outgoings are by direct debit, very irritating as payment is outside user-control! I can use the building society's online banking facility to amend standing orders quite easily but they don't like one tinkering with derect debits and it's sometimes an uphill struggle to try to get payments changed.

I'm getting ready to start that with my bank. Do you ever have any security problems?

I've never had any problems with my auto payments.
Auto-pay is on the rise... The check is NOT in the mail!
