Anybody ever read The Millonaire Next Door?
Here is a random review...
quote:
Who are the rich in America? Most people picture them as as doctors and lawyers who drive BMW's and Mercedes Benz's. They live in upscale neighborhoods, and their kids attend private schools.
Stanley and Danko's research find that this is not the case. Millionares are not rich stuffy people living on the good side of the tracks. They live in middle-class neighborhoods, and own small businesses. They literally live next door to you and me.
What's the secret? How does one become rich in America today? The answer is simple. Live below your means, and invest in the future. It turns out that most people working in high-powered occupations spend money to portray themselves as rich. In the meantime, the local hardware store owner is saving his money. Moreover, the hardware store owner isn't supporting an adult son or daughter after college graduation.

Have not read the book |

I haven't read the book, but I do believe in what you said in your posting. It's the kind of thing that I try to give people a different perspective of. But that's only one piece of the puzzle. I beleive that you can't only change your perspective of money when it come's to other people but, you put yourself in the equation as well.
I have started a Website to promote a Positive Outlook when it comes to Money. I would like to see people achieve their goals through Positive Thinking. Through the Website you can sign-up for a Free Newsletter, so give it a try. You can find me at: http://home.earthlink.net/~pmo-1
Thanks, mtfish

Great site, thanks for sharing it.
Yep, mind over money. If you have the attitude that money is "filthy lucre", that is not exactly the right mental outlook to go about for having more of it.

Yup, I read it and remember that passage clearly.. And how true as I know someone at the top of Primamerica and know another couple that are beyond wealthy and they are the sweetest people I know. I have actually found for the most part that the people that are very wealthy will have more of a heart and help you out more than the person walking down the street. I once read and do not remember were from but it said "The only thing that stands in your way of another man's knowledge regardless of subject is your own desire and will"
