| What famous bailouts have there been in the past 50 years? |

Once again, this is for my senior thesis. The government bailed out Chrysler in the 70s and all those savings-and-loans in the 80s. There's a lot of debate about whether or not LTCM was a bailout or not. The government didn't really pour any money into it, but just organized a bunch banks and investment firms (JP Morgan, AIG, Berkshire Hathaway, etc.) to divide the LTCM amongst themselves. Have there been any other major bailouts in the US over the past 50 years?
