Sorry to hear about your loss, I lost my Dad when I was a child as well, so I had to work much harder than most, but as to where to invest your money, this is a tough question. There are many places to spread your money around in, but don't put it all into one investment, diversify.
Have you given any thought about what you want to do with your life as far as employment? Certainly, with so much ahead of you, this is the first decision you should be making. If you have interests, try and align your carreer goals with what you enjoy doing. Then find a business in the same line to invest in, then your future is more secure than just going through the motions of being employed.
