Has anyone had success with guest posting on other people's blogs in order to bring traffic? I prefer to take more of a "content marketing" approach than doing straight SEO, and guest posting is something that I think could be really helpful.
I've got some great ideas for articles, but unfortunately I've only had 1 response from about a dozen emails I've sent.
What do you think? Is it worth the effort?

The thing about content marketing as a form of SEO is that it is really hard work. There is no easy way to do it and yes, you will send out dozens of emails and probably won't get many responses. However, you need to think of it as an investment. You invest your time in writing good quality content for someone, spend time building relationships with other bloggers, sending it out etc, and the value that you get is enormous. The relationships that you form will keep on working for you and the links are much better quality because they are naturally obtained.
Buying a $20 link from a dodgy directory might seem like an easier investment but you're not getting anything for your money, that I am certain of.
SEOMoz have some great blog posts regarding the best way to drive content marketing - you might want to check that out for ideas.
In the meantime, this is a finance forum, so you're probably better off asking your SEO questions in an SEO forum.

Yeah, definitely you should try this out. Guest posting performs an essential role in seo & most efficient market to your business. By this strategy you can get quality backlinks as well as good visitors towards your website.

The response rate is low, that's true. I think mine was even lower than your, about one response from 20 emails. As long as prospecting doesn't take you too long, it's fine even with this rate.

I want to do SEO by blog guest posting. But it seems a bit difficult to find free reliable guest posting sites and the services provided by some companies are very expensive, which frustrated me.
