making money from a blog/forum? |
|
|
I'm not looking to make "big money" right now. Being profitable will make me happy (and my expenses so far are $10 dollars a year for my domain and the lost opportunity cost from me constructing my website/maintaining). My long-term goal would be to make one hundred dollars in the black in a year.
I am a young person still in college and I am a business student. However, I feel that my top-notch college really doesn't teach us how to be entrepreneurs. So I want to engage in an education learning part-time job, rather than a full on business. I would be willing to work 4 hours a day on it. I have developed a blog idea that will focus on a certain age group. I already have registered a cool domain name that no one else had registered (I was suprised). I have intermediate web design skills and I have experience in cultivating a blog that attracts visitors (I just did it for free though).
I think that I need advice on several topics (which will show my newbieness):
1) Is there a good blog site free that would let me import to my domain and still let me use adsense and other ad/banners.
2) Is there a good forum site free to import to my domain that I can use for my site?
3) Are there any other tips on making money off of a blog?

Congratulations to you for your entrepreneurial spirit and drive.
If you did spend 4 hours a day, you could easily have a website that makes $100 or much more in a year.
You may want to check out blogger.com, they offer a very popular service that allows your own AdSense units.
On free forums, I recommend ForumWise.com, although they aren't accepting registrations at the moment due to popularity.
There is lots to learn about making money off of a website. You will want to learn about other PPC options like YPN, the Yahoo Publisher Network. And you should also research CPM programs that can augment your PPC earnings, like TribalFusion and many others.
I recommend you check out http://www.seo1.net and learn a bit about search engine optimization there. Also browse large webmaster forums like DigitalPoint or SitePoint for money making ideas in the websites for sale sections.

1) WordPress is a free script and most hosting accounts let you install it with a single click.
2) PHPBB is probably the easiest and again, a one click install with a good host.
3) Be consistent and have patience. Don't wait for them to find you, go find them and bring them in to your site. Give them what they want and they will return often and bring their friends.

Blogs quickly found many Internet marketers lately. Don't forget to include sprinkled with affiliate links in your blog, so you can earn additional commissions when someone clicks on these links and makes a purchase. There are many products on ClickBank for any kind of a niche, you can be in, so you probably won't run out of options when looking for product support.

Actually, Yes, this can happen. There are several bloggers (successful ones) who make real-deal money doing blogs or forums. How they successfully did it was a secret on their own, but I have talked to some and proof to me is a big deal of hardwork and determination.

You can download wordpress blog software and install it in your website.
For forum you can go for phpBB if the site is php based(i.e running under apache), jforum(java based)

It is possible to make money with blogs as well but you need to write quality content........... on the other hand the ideas should be unique for blogging also.

This is so so true. Quality content. It is not just content just so you can make a quick buck. No. Why? Because if you do that, soon enough you will not find people who would like to read your writings.

You can easily start Banner advertising.
The most important parameters: traffic and niche. In brief: key is to write on the same topic (in my case: seo and web money).
Now speaking about traffic - 300 people a day is fully enough to start earning

Alternative way to profit from blog |

So this is an idea I posted on a more recent thread. This is if you're trying to get creative and you have a fair amount of traffic. Probably at least 100 readers or so. anyway, here's the idea. Let me know what you think.
Recently a new platform for funding mobile apps has just debuted. It's called appbackr and basically you can purchase wholesale copies of apps to provide developers with funding and then you collect retail when those copies sell on iTunes.
So you only make money if the app is actually successful and sells on iTunes. This involves spreading the news of the app. So if you're a successful blogger and you have a strong following, you can use your blog as a platform to drive traffic to the app you've backd and you can increase your chances of having all the copies of your apps sell.
Since you've already created a trusting relationship with your followers, they'll take your advice on apps to purchase, which means you're more likely to convince them to purchase it and therefore indirectly pay for your blogging efforts.
If you try it out, please let me know how it works out for you. This was an idea I had when I found this platform but I'm not a blogger so I haven't tried it.
Good luck!

I have two Magneto running websites: the first one with the 1.5.0.1 version and the second with the 1.5.1.0 version. Both websites have the same configuration, But how can I place the Google adds on them.

I think so first of all you will have to sign up Google Ad Sense, then you will there some procedures to place a Googl Ad on your website. Google AdSense is a quick and easy way for website owners to display Google Ads on their website. When people visit your website and click the Google Ads, you get paid money.

Keep a good and content rich articles and your readers will keep coming back for new reads. You need to gauge your audience. Know when do they come back for more and focus on that niche.

Content is king for a website. Content is at the heart of today’s marketing strategies as businesses use websites and blogs to demonstrate their own expertise.A website is nothing without its content. The main reason people use the internet is to find out information. If they don’t find that information. they’re not going to want to stay on your site, and they’re certainly not going to want to come back.
