money to pursue dreams  Reply with quote

Some background information:
I am a 23 year old female cancer patient due to finish up treatment (chemo and stem cell transplant) in about 2 months. I've gone through everything including: losing my health insurance, trying to make sense of government programs, resistance to chemotherapy (twice) and other complications. I know it's cliche but I've learned that life is too short to not do the things I am passionate about. So when I am done I want to pursue the avenues I want to pursue and not what everyone else wants me to do. I think I deserve it.

I want to be a woodworker. I found a 9 month program in Portland, Or (northwestwoodworking.com) I would like to do. Because it's not a traditional/accredited school, financial aid seems impossible. The tuition is high, personal hand tools and project materials are not included in tuition and there is no payment plan, tuition is due upfront. The program is time consuming (approximately 60 hours/week) so a small part time job is all I think I could handle (if that). I personally would like to take nine months, focus on the program and then move on with life and career. But that may be an impossibility, especially since I would be moving to a brand new city.

Question:
Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be a possibility for me? Money making, tuition/living expense fundraising ideas?

Ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

-JOY

You may be guilty of wishful thinking. Without someone willing to support you, there is little chance you are going to handle 60 hours of school and still be able to support yourself in a bad economy. Even if you found a room, living in Portland is going to run at least $500 a month. Public transportation could be adequate, it's very good here, but you still have to eat.

I would suggest looking on Craig's List for housing and jobs before hand, then move to Portland and take some of the less expensive Workshops they offer at your school, then work up to more as your skills progress and you can use them to secure better employment. Maybe even with someone who can help with your schooling if you show promise.

I admire your positive outlook in life and you definitely deserve the best! I guess the best way is to start an online business (affiliate marketing, selling on eBay by dropshipping etc etc). No cost needed to start up and also no need products of your own.

I'm sorry to hear that you have cancer -- but you are a strong lady, you will get through this. As for making enough money to pursue your dreams, there is obviously no easy way. If you're looking to make money from home/online, I'd say blogging is your best choice. Try blogging about your experience with cancer -- this could be something that could bring in a LOT of users. Doing so will impress people as for how strong you, to be holding on with such a disease.

I hope you get through this.

Blogging is one way where you can get a form of income but this also going to need time on your part. You will need to learn how to drive traffic to your blog etc. Seek family assistance let your family members know what you are passionate about and how you would like their assistance. With your recovery from cancer will you be able to do the practical work. Woodwork consist of dust etc. Well all the best.

Government Grants - Personal Grants  Reply with quote

Hi Joy -

have you thought about applying for a government grant? The American federal government provides many grants, including personal grants and education grants to help you get to where you want to be economically. You never have to pay these grants back.

Good luck!

its always important to try out newer discounts for certain products, this scheme is a great bonus to all the people and hope they will enjoy it.
I can remember about 5 years back, an offer similar to this was out and we really were desperate to take its service
