What about Ebay stores? |
|
|
I do have an Ebay store myself, but I wondered if there are others here that have tried this. I couldn't resist the 30 day free trail they offer.
I bought several E-books to look into it, but to be honest most of them were just full of fluff and designed with a great headline to pull in profits. I think one is just as well off to read the documentation on the Ebay site and learn as they go, at least that's the approach I am taking.
At least it's low risk and not as much work as creating AdSense pages one right after the other.

I haven't bought any e-books but I have seen them through acquaintances. And you are right, they are full of fluff, they all say the same thing. You are better off learning as you go, and speaking with the help that is available on-line with e-bay.

Don't get me wrong, I was referring to the Ebooks I bought about Ebay, NOT Ebooks in general.
Later I did find a few Ebooks about Ebay that were excellent and added them to my store along with others I found that were not all fluff. Then I wrote a couple myself and will be adding more as time goes on.
The ebook in itself is an excellent method of distributing information on a particular subject, you just need to be careful who you buy them from. Since they are free to produce and almost free to distribute, they lend themselves to exploitation by those seeking a fast buck. It's up to the individual to seek out those that can help them at a fair price.
I've had over 100 sales since I made the first post in this thread, so some people must still enjoy them. I have yet to have my first return.
Funny how time often changes things,

I would say you are doing well with 100 sales in about a week. I found ebay stores to be a tough sell since people typically don't search store inventory. A basic ebay search lists auction items first with a handful of store items at the bottom. Congrats on the fast start.

That's because you don't know the secret in my sig line. I could tell you here but I wouldn't make many more sales, now would I? After all, it's only a penny.

Does anybody know how to make it so that when someone pays you through Paypal (whether it be from an e-bay purchase or any other purchase) after the person pays you, an automatic webpage, or link, or e-mail or something is sent with a PDF file or anything else? Basically I'm just asking if anybody knows how to automate that whole process. Thanks.

Ebay does that automatically now.
You list the item as a digital delivery item with instant payment.
You type in the instructions for downloading and a link in your listing.
When they buyer pays, he gets the information and clicks a link to download. You could be on the beach, which I was all last week and sold a hundred items hands off.
If you want to see it in action, spend a penny and buy the report from my store:

Ebay Store Alternative |
|
|
I closed down my Ebay Store becuase of the lack-luster sales and fees. Now that Ebay has raised its Store Listing fees I am glad I abandoned it. I have setup my own onlie stores and use a full service drop-ship for order fullfilment.
I cam across the program I use while it was still in beta testing. They provide you with a fully branded web store, web hosting, design tools, checkout, customer service, order fullfilment, etc. It cost me $29.95 a month plus 3% of -profit-. The 3% on profit is to cover the cost of processig the transaction. I looked into creating my own merchant account but it would cost me $50 a month + 2-4% of the entire sale.
My only real issue with the service at this point is the inventory that you can select from to stock your store is a bit uncontrolled, although expansive (70,000 items +). Since multiple suppliers, shippers are involved some do a better job on updating the true available on hand quantities. They are aware of the problems and are working on tightening up the accuracy.
If you would like to know more about the service I have a link to their webpage at the bottom of my signature. Using my referal gets you out of the $99 setup fee and an upgrade to the number of items you can have in your store.
If you have any questions about the program I'm willing to let you know as much as I can.

Is this anti-Ebay tactic to enhance your own overpriced solution?
Ebay raised my listing fee from 2 cents a month per item to I think 5 cents. The reason I can't remember is it is TRIVIAL.
They charge me $15 a month with NO setup fee and even give me the first month FREE. Then they provide 10 MILLION eyeballs a MONTH to their site.
If I can't sell, that's not Ebay's fault, is it?
Sorry, but I don't like undeserved bashing even if it does get my post deleted, at least I feel better.
P.S. You might think about getting a copy of IEspell before you post again.

Warren-
Thanks for the welcome to the board!?
I was just trying to present an alternative to Ebay Stores- Ebay also charges final value fees and PayPal fees that come off the top of every sale. Many find the stacked fees too much for lower margin, highly competitive items despite the potential exposure Ebay provides.
I do not consider my solution overpriced and did a full cost analysis before switching away from Ebay. The time gained from not having to package and post items alone is worth $100s a week. I value my time too much to ever take this task back. This free time is reinvested in improving my stores, developing my customer base and working on my spelling/typing skills

Give me a break . . . |
|
|
Look . . . you're new here and maybe you just don't get it yet. If you want to promote your product, go ahead. Just do it without trying to pick on the King Kong of all Ecommerce sites with little picky details that don't matter to those of us who do very well there. That's just plain crazy.
If your cost analysis showed you have a better solution, fine. It doesn't take a CPA to see that's probably flawed.
I wouldn't welcome anyone who came into my home and tromped all over the carpet with muddy boots on either, I'd throw the jerk out. You're just lucky I'm a guest here too.

Im new to the whole ebay thing and am gonna be
selling a lot on there soon as My wife is getting
into a jewelry selling business just looking for ideas
on how I can make her and I some more cash.
I don't keep track of visitors with any kind of counter, but I do know from the sales I get that people are visiting. Remember that Ebay has millions of visitors and if they search for what I have, it produces more traffic for me.
Then it encourages them to visit my About Me page so they learn even more about me, which is free for me to use.
The reason I like this for building my list is that they have actually spent at least a small amount of money before they are added, so they are somewhat qualified. As far as the Ebay fees, I usually make enough to cover that expense with my sales. Even without any sales, $15 a month is not much for the exposure it produces.
Finally, it looks good as an addition to my entire online profile. The more things you do online to produce recognition as an experienced Internet promoter, the more people will look to you for leadership. When you are trying to make money online, being recognized as a leader increases your chances more than you can believe.
If I can be of further help, please let me know.
Warren
P.S. Sorry it took me a while to respond, but I was on vacation enjoying the money I make online. Some time today I should be adding more pictures to http://PictureTrail.com/warren65 to tell abut this latest trip to Lake Tahoe.
