Keywords on redirect site....  Reply with quote

If my website redirects to another website, will it hurt my page rankings in search engines? Do I need to place the keywords somewhere on the front page that contains the code to redirect? Help is appreciated.

Thanks.

bad practice  Reply with quote

Redirection is not at all a good practice in SE pt. of view; Not from the point of view of search engine and also from the visitors point of view too. What you will do with the page rang if there is no benefit at all or your site?

Yeah, I try to avoid redirects in general and especially when I'm wanting to impress the engines. The search engine may not treat it like you expect it will, and there are other issues like augfan77 alluded to.

Can you get rid of the redirect and just use a prominent link?

I can post a link if that helps me raise my search engine ranking. Maybe put a banner ad that links to the site I'm currently redirecting to. Should I also put keywords on the page? What is a good method for this without making the page look amateur?

Hi, I have a PR2 site that redirects somewhere else, so
it obviously doesn't hurt or gets it deindexed.

However...

... don't use regular redirects (META, JAVA...), use
invisible redirects via .HTACCESS

If you were afraid if redirects will harm your
main site (the one that other sites redirect to),
don't worry. Search engines will never penalize
your sites for something someone else could
have done.

Have a great time.

redirection  Reply with quote

Well redirection can be done to infom your visitos that you have moved. Also it is used to point all the domain names to the same direction using javascript.

Redirection may be meaningful one when both the sites are themeatically same; Also in the cases like there is no space webhosting server and that is directed to the other site related to other server.

Now what kind of redirection WesB in opting for?
