Has anyone ever purchased a raffle ticket for a house raffle - they seem to be very popular now.

SF Dream Home Raffle

I am on the fence here? $150 seems like a fair investment, given that there are a multiple-drawings and worthwhile cash~car~trip prizes to win. My husband won't need convincing once he reads the odds 1:100.

Seems like getting a group together and buying multiple tickets would be an interesting way to up the odds. Then split the cash award.

any thoughts?

Sounds like a high stakes gamble to me. Why not just buy a lottery ticket?

Robert,

It sounds too good to believe. The odds of 1:100 are for what prize? Obviously, won't be a house because who would give you a house for $15,000? It certainly sounds like a scam. They have multiple prizes, so find out what the odds would be to win an actual dream house. Ask them if they had conducted such a raffle in the past, and if yes, then ask them to provide the name and contact info of the winner of such a dream house.
