Is microsoft a value trap?  Reply with quote

When they have to cut back on vacation time with all their cash. . . .

And just saw on morningstar that Bill Gates has sold a ton. Or is what he just sold chump change to him?

Microsoft was very reciently my largest holding in my mutual funds but it has more recently been sold off.

Can't complain to much about Microsoft as I do enjoy the game Helix quite a bit.

Of course Yahoo's JTs blocks is also up there:)

Don't really know anything about that, but if their problem is unstable software and OSs and being behind schedule on software releases, all known issues with MS, then keeping the bees busy as much as possible might be the issue, as opposed to a cash problem...

I don't think the cash is the problem. Today is the dividend correct.

It was in the news about a year ago that they cut vacation time from the generous 3 weeks to the more typical 2 weeks.

A company with the revenue they had is just plain gready to be cutting back vacation like that.

My employer is going to a 28 day pay cycle and we will not earn over time unless we work over 168 hours in 28 days. They have it still posted in the key room that over 40 hours a week gets paid so perhaps I can get some money on the grounds of them being in breach of contract with the public posting.

With Microsoft sold off my largest holding is now Dell. As of September 30 anyway. The fund manager could have also sold them off but I doubt it.

When intrest rates rise cash will be king.
