Self Directed IRA - Good or Bad idea? |

I have some 401K mony to move and wanted to consider a Self Directed IRA in order to deverisify.
Thoughts and reommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I thought it was complicated but thought it was just me. I did want to see if I could use for RE investment but I may have to defer for now.

I strongly suggest against doing a self directed IRA (which you intend to hold RE in) unless you have a LOT LOT LOT of money. Absolutely every penny having to do with that property must come from the IRA which can get nasty if there's a big problem.
Personally I think they're too expensive, too restrictive and just too darn complicated to be worth it.
