Self Directed IRA - Good or Bad idea?  Reply with quote  

I have some 401K mony to move and wanted to consider a Self Directed IRA in order to deverisify.

Thoughts and reommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Coaster.

I thought it was complicated but thought it was just me. I did want to see if I could use for RE investment but I may have to defer for now.

I strongly suggest against doing a self directed IRA (which you intend to hold RE in) unless you have a LOT LOT LOT of money. Absolutely every penny having to do with that property must come from the IRA which can get nasty if there's a big problem.

Personally I think they're too expensive, too restrictive and just too darn complicated to be worth it.

thanks PF101. I'll be taking that advice.....now where to move it will be the next question. I should probably close out this thread and post again.
