Weekly Treasury Bill auctions (sales) |
|
|
The last two weeks, the government sold 33 billion discounted treasury bills, three month and six month, and has been selling them every Monday for years. Each monday the money gained from is used to buy back the three month and six month treasury bills as they mature.
My question is: is the interest we pay the buyers a loss added to the national debt?

Thanks.
I wonder just how much of the big pot is given to the Fed reserve, and how many banks can't pay it back because of bad loans.

Thanks.
I'm still not clear about the financing. If the treasury bill sales are the same, week after week, and the same number of bills are redeemed, week after week, that seems like a zero sum game.
