What would you consider a comfortable income in your area for a single guy (no kids or other dependents)?
Here in Los Angeles area I would say around $50k is reasonable to live fairly comfortable if you're single.

I know couples with one kid that live comfortably on $48k (every once in a while its a race to the bank but they ain't missing out on anything) Personally, I'm a single guy that mainly lives in Florida and for me I could live comfortably on $30k.

It's pretty relative to your economy.
I would say 30% more than your living expenses should be comfortable, yes?

As said before, depends on your location. I live in the suburbs of Chicago - when I was single, $35,000 was comfortable. Now I am married and have a 1 year old. My wife and I bring in close to $100,000, and we live comfortably.

I live in Spokane, Washington and a comfortable income for a single man would be around $25,000-$30,000. That's a big difference from California. I suppose that is why so many Californians are moving up here.

Everything's relative..... To some people $1000 is alot of Money, to other's.. it's what they keep in their wallet !
Knowing how to use it is what people need to learn.
If I can help (and I don't mean by giving loans out ! ), send me an email: mark@largeincome.ws

I'm a single guy living in baltimore in an apartment.
I live pretty comfortably with my $35k a year, pretax. I don't have anything really fancy, but I'm not starving and counting pennies.
And I'm still able to save in 401k and ROTH.
But of course, to each their own.

I can never figure out why people think like that. (I am not one of them.)

I know people getting over 100K that struggle and friends on 25K that are blissfully happy.
It all depends on your " wants", as opposed to your " needs".

The problem with some people is the more money they make the more they want. When you start to earn more money you are in competition with people in that class and it's like a big power & money ego thing. That is why this world is so messed up! If people would stop being so greedy and materialistic we wouldn't have all these wars, poor people suffer because the only way the wealthy elite can hold onto their money and power is to dumb down the masses and keep people tied down and struggleing with minimum wage jobs. How can you have time to think when your in debt and no one wants to help you.
