Stop picking my pocket!  Reply with quote

Is anyone else completely fed up with the phone and cable companies picking our pocket. Every month I feel like I am calling for some charge I did not approve to have it credited. When it's under a certain amount of money it's not even worth my time. I was charged $1.79 for directory assistance, 4 times, and $2.99 some mystery download, and $3.99 for a movie I never rented. None of the bills make sense, and when you call customer supprot they are impossible to reason with or they have no idea whats going on either.

Sounds fustrating...have you considered switching to a different service? Is there any possibility that your indentity has been stolen?

The only problem I have with my cell phone service is about once a month my wife or I receive a spam text message which I have to pay for receiving. We don't use texting so I would rather not have to pay for it. (It's only .15)

It definately sounds like you should start fresh with a new account and close the one your currently using. I would call the bank and tell them you believe your account number has been compromised. They should be able to close your current card and reopen you a new one immediately.

Identity theft was the first thing that crossed my mind- thank you!
Its all different accounts and excuse my rant but it just all happened in one month. So I am getting ready to board a cruise to the Cayman Islands and I am calm. Charter is going to refund my movie expense, and the lovely operator at the Marriott told me about 1-800Free11 for directory assistance. I used it to make my local dinner reservations last night...very cool.
I am going to enjoy my get-away and forget about life and bills for now.

Yea, it happens. Our electric company, the highest priced one in the country, also just got approved for a 30% INCREASE in fees. Ridiculous! We have a home we are only at maybe 10 days a month, it's small, only about 800 sq ft, and we are paying over $240 a month for electricity. And you know when they raised the rate, the federal government added on more of their taxes and special fees! Everyone wines, oh, except for us Evil or Very Mad

Duckman,
You can have texting disabled with just a phone call.

bankruptcyandforeclosure,
Most people don't realize that most home electronics have
transformers which are using electricity 24/7. I was able to half
my utility bill by unplugging everything when not in use. Consider
one of those on-demand hot water heaters, and make sure you
unplug everything except the refrig. Everything...

Of course it's worth your while to call and complaint... no matter the amount.
These company's make up fees and since we rarely notice them and when we do we think as you said that for the amount it's not worth your time but add that up on a year or more...now all the people that pay it...
It's ridiculous...

Even if it's one cent (hahaha ok i'm exagerating a little) you shouldn't pay it if you don't really owe it...

Period.
