it says on this article on debt consolidation that "According to the Federal Reserve Board, debt in American households has reached the $2 trillion mark, excluding mortgage debt."
does debt consolidation really help these people get out of debt? or is it just another scam?

yea, but its just basically like organizing your debt. It dosent solve the debt. Debt setlement is a better route and its only a scam if the people you are working with are scam artist. Find a company back by many many attorneys

I don't mean to revive zombie threads but since someone else posted here I would like to clarify... Couldn't you do debt consolidation by yourself? I mean, if you put all debts into one manageable debt isn't that consolidation? I just wanted to clarify because I wrote an article related to this in the past and was wondering if I gave people the right information...

YEa I agree that one oculd consolidate their own debts. But the cant get it resolved or settled without an attorney. Well they shouldnt do it with out an attorney.

i dont know abou the others but debt consolidation reallly worked out for one of my friend...he was about to apply for bankruptsy ..but debt consolidation really come out to be a great help for him..

Yea I would have to agree. It really worked for a friend of mine as well. i dont know if it was the company that she used or if its just resolution. try internationaldebtsolutions.us or .com if us dosent work =/

Debt consolidation is good if you have taken loan from a number of persons.So it is good to consolidate your loans.

No, Debt consolidation really works. A debt consolidation loan is a loan which joins together several loans under one payment. In practice, people look to consolidate high interest unsecured loans like credit cards, with a lower, ready interest collateral-based loan. Lowering the interest is of interest as this is the principal aspiration with this kind of loan.
