BofA late mortgage.. help  Reply with quote

I was reported to the credit company for being delinquent on my BofA motgage. I was late because of piss-poor record keeping on my part. I told them it was my fault (duh!) and that I have been on time for the 5+ years that I have had my loan... I dont care about the late fees (which the waived anyway) but wanted the blemish off my credit report. They replied that "yes I was a valued customer.. but since it was not a BofA error they would not be able to remove the report to the credit bureau."

Does anyone have a silver bullet to fix this?
How bad does it reflect on my credit report?
I promptly paid when I realized that I was late and, and paid the current month as well.. but it was late enough that it was reported. over 15 days.

The only problem now days is that credit card companies have clauses that they can jack up your interest rate based on late payments to "any" creditor whose information they have access to (not just them). I don't know if they would jack you up for just one late payment, but it is something to keep an eye on if you have outstanding credit card debt.

You can get even by learning how to pay off your mortgage quicker, thereby minimizing the lender's profits
