Maybe you could get some inexpensive dental insurance, they might cover the work you need. Have you looked into something like that?

Yes, I have AFLAC dental but all dentists want money upfront. They want everything paid for at the time of the visit which makes it impossible for me. Any ideas?? I can't afford to put it on credit either. My dental needs are too severe. Thank you for your response and concern.

all dentists want money upfront...
Hmm, I don't think this is necessarily true.
I've never had to pay the full amount for any procedure at my dentist, only the portion that was uncovered by insurance. This was true for both cleanings and more expensive proceedures like removing wisdom teeth. This may be a policy that varies from office to office, so perhaps you could try another dental office...?

Yes. I've called almost every office in my area (Nevada) and they said that they would need the money upfront then I could be reimbursed by my insurance. That's my problem. I can't even afford to get credit to cover my costs. It must just be my area. It is very hard. Thanks again for your response.

Hello Joan,
Maybe if you had enough for a down payment of sorts they would work out a payment plan for you. Is that an option or not? Wish I knew what else to suggest.

I WISH. FOR SOME REASON, OUT HERE, THAT IS NOT AN OPTION. I WOULD HAVE TO USE A CREDIT CARD AND I CAN'T AFFORD THAT EITHER. THANKS FOR THE THOUGHT.

Are you close to Cali? you could come over here and do a payment plan over here. I'm sure you can find someone. I have never heard of a dentist not doing a payment plan.

I don't know what you're exact situation is, but sometimes I like to give weird advice. Here it is: join the army. They will pay for all your dental work. If it is really severe they will not waste time, they will help you right away. It doesn't have to be a full time job, you can join the reserves and work on weekends.
