| 9/11 movies -- what's your opinion? |

There are several Hollywood motion pictures coming out soon that deal with 9/11 events. One, about Flight 93, already has trailers showing in movie theaters. There's a lot of controversy. What are your thoughts?

My opinion is that it's way too soon for 9/11 to be entertainment, no matter how well and how tastefully done. It's a traumatic event for all Americans and many others, and most especially for those who lost family, friends, and coworkers. Many of them aren't even through the grieving process yet. And we're still at war with those who planned these attacks. I'm just not too happy about it.

I think the victims would want us to move on. Evil happens in the world - it is OUR job to make the best use of our time by moving forward..
I say let the story-tellers tell their stories. Let the market reward and punish the best and worst, respectively.
Please don't look to hollywood for an accurate historical presentation, however. Remember, it's only entertainment. Don't get worked up, vote with your dollars!

I heard that this movie has made many of those who watched it vent their anger on the Muslim population in the states. It is understndable that people were hurt because of 9/11. But the anger should be directed at those who perpetrated it and not on those who had nothing to do with the attacks. Am I right?

HOLY COW I TOTALLY AGREE!
Besides...it could be a celebration of courage in the face of "well, this sucks". Character shows only during adversity.
Appreciate the irony that an attack to put an end to the capitalist dogs has turned into a venture in capitalism.

I agree HOWEVER...the radicals claim to represent Islam and unfortunately, one bad apple spoils it for everyone.
What people fail to realise is that there are radicals in everything...Christians have them too (murdering abortion doctors, for example) and people use that as an excuse to dismiss the entire belief and its population.
I get hit with the "Oh, you're one of those annoying Christians..." and I have to point out, "No....I am annoying for other reasons."

I saw it. From a movie standpoint I'm not so sure it's such a great movie but it's a hell of a lot better than most the junk that's been released in the past few years.
And it's follows the events and shows what was going on on the ground in flight towers and FAA very well, not adding in a bunch of bias BS. That is a great change from what we've seen the past few years with liberal hollywood mixing truth and bias together for a prepackaged showing that most people will use as their source of "history" and facts (Fahrenheit 911).
Take it from me however, I don't need any movie to remind me of that day or re-ignite my feelings about it. I was very apprehensible to see it because of that, but afterwards I was glad I did. Since it hits close to home it leaves you grasping the armrests the whole time (or crushing your girlfriends hand like I did). It portrays a time before the wars, before constant political blaming, before all the "conspiracys", and simply shows how dangerous simple minded people can be when led astray by a cultist fanatical understanding of a religion. I remember watching the first few minutes of the film before anything had happened and thinking how the people felt in their security and everyday lives, a little sureal moment. We all got to see the media's take on the events as it was reported, but hardly any of us actually experienced the events first hand, this movie takes us a little closer to that.

Human suffering has no nationality. What happened in 9/11 is not that different from what is happening right now in Iraq. People were dying in 9/11 and they are dying now in Iraq and Afghanistan. I am sure you all lost or knew someone who lost their loved ones in 9/11. But believe it or not..we are experiencing that almost daily in the Middle East.

The only reason why I asked was because I have lived in Kuwait, Oman, and now Qatar and have NEVER had a problem. You make it sound like car bombs, suicide bombers, and planes flying into buildings are commonplace. So i was just wondering what horrible place you live in, the only place I can think of is Iraq or Afghanistan but I have not been to either of those countries.

I haven't yet watched the film because it hits way too close to home for me. I knew two of the people onboard flt. 175, The UA flt that struck one of the towers. And i can't imagine what they must have felt inside that plane as the events unfolded.
Its natural to place blame on others for what happened that day, and surely on those responsible, but I wonder how much of it was our fault. Did prior to 9/11 we have a certain attitude towards the world that helped cultivate these types of fanatics? I guess there will always be fanatics in either extreme, no matter what we do someone is always going to be unhappy.
I guess I will watch flt. 93 and take it for what it is when i watch it, a movie trying to portray factual events through fiction.

LOL Hot here too. It has been all week.
My daughter (9) jumps horses and I went to watch her today. Outside in the sun. No shade. It was so hot.
