advertising  Reply with quote

I used to advertise in trade journals, but it never generated a single contact. All it did was give me a business expense to write in at tax time on Schedule C. The community I deal with is very small so word-of-mouth is more important.

Shoot, I was thinking about trying the old newspaper too. Guess, I'll save myself the trouble.

I've done newspaper ads in the past. It wasn't worthwhile for me. I learned that you really need to advertise in areas that can support your product or service and you want to leave your ad in at least 4 weeks and keep it in ongoingly to see results.

Classifieds ?  Reply with quote

I do classifieds when I need to rent one of my two rental units.
Fairly effective.
More effective than direct marketing.

I've just started a newspaper campaign  Reply with quote

If anyone is interested in the progress I'll post updates whenever significant leads come through. I'm currently marketing my intangible goods products, so it will be interesting to see the results.

No, but it can be a viable adverstising source depending on what you're advertsising.

Yep, depends on what you're advertising.
But here, newspaper advertising can be really expensive.

newspaper advertising is about creating visibility, there is little you will gain if you run one ad,

as someone once said, you need to see something 7 times before you remember it

newspaper ad  Reply with quote

Newspaper advertising for website is not good as they do not remember and type the website.

If you like to sell anything you can use newspaper ad so that there will be good sales.

I think newspaper ads are your best option if you decide to advertise locally.

You can not become free by accepting to be occupied

Our little newspapers got eaten up by the bigger ones. No more cheap classified adverts.

I did run a two inch advert in a town that I had been putting promotional material. Didn't have the time to place the promotional material in that area anymore. So I ran the advert for 3 weeks. $60 and not a single sign up. But I knew going it that it was a gamble. Should have done another pulse of 3 weeks in, hum, how much time should I have let pass?

One big merchant pulled out of the Denver Post or Rockey Mountain news on one of their rate hikes. Well, he is now back running the news paper adverts. As a matter in fact he has bought me two two month subscriptions in the last couple of years. Now that is a big ad bugget!!!
