Series EE Bonds  Reply with quote

Hey, I have a bunch of Series EE bonds that are close to or just over 10 years old and they all have outdated contact information, and beneficiaries i'd like changed out and i'm wondering if there is a way to get all these bonds reissued to me? or does it make sense to cash them all out and just buy 1 bond with the money i get from all these ones?

There's another topic almost identical to this one; try to find it. There are links in it that will be useful. (ustreas.gov)

Remember, cashing in the bonds will be a taxable event.

Don't you hate that, not only do they take your money for a rather long time period for a so-so interest rate, then they tax you when you cash them.

i never found that other post. the rate on the bonds is at 4%...and i have about 12 of them...totalling now a little over 9k... is there a way to combine all these into 1 bond or a CD at a higher interest rate without getting screwed by the taxes? seems like there must be a way to get these bonds to do more for me than what they are doing now at 4%.

Sad

So far the answer is no. If you cash them you will pay tax on them. I am also looking for a way to rollover my bonds and as yet have found nothing but a 529/education plan. As someone said before check out treasurydirect.com

If you find a way......please let me know email is listed on this site.
