Who is in charge of the board?  Reply with quote

The head honcho admin of the forum.

I'm not looking for a moderator or a senior member.
I would like to speak with who is actually in charge.

Is it you Andrew? If so, would you please PM me as I
have an issue that I would like to address with you
that probably would be best if dealt with in private.

Thanks,

Smittygj

*Ahem*

I'm in charge of the board. The head honcho - Honch, I like to call myself. Yes, I run this operation around here. It's all me.

So if you're looking for the Jefe, el numero uno, the big enchilada, Mr. BIG, the one in charge, or as I sometimes like to refer to myself, Prince YumYum of the Fantasy Isle of Banoony, then look no further.

Smittygj,

Thank you for the time you took to share your viewpoints on this issue with me.

You have some cogent points, but unfortunately we currently don't have the luxury of the time to perfectly deal with the daily onslaught of those that have no interest in contributing to our community and instead only want post their personal promotion. If we didn't get as many spams postings on a daily basis, things would probably be different. We could probably use more moderator personnel.

I read you reasons why you missed the rules. We try to make the rules as clear as possible so that no one is caught off-guard after they've posted. The rules are posted before registration, registration requires a joining member to acknowledge that they agree to the rules. We also make the rules thread appear at the top of each forum. I'm not sure what more we can do in this regard, although if anyone has any ideas I'd sure like to hear them.

Thank you for your reply.  Reply with quote

Andrew,

Thank you for your detailed reply. This is exaclty what I expected as
a "moderator" of the board. A detailed response. What I was not receiving
from Rolo was answers to my questions. I was getting generic one liners
that were unfounded and not true. But you already know that as it was
detailed in my message to you.

As far as what can be done in regards to this situation? In the end, that
is your decision. I just presented you with a detailed review of how I was
treated by one of your mods. If that is acceptable on this board, then
so be it.

I guess the only other thing that might take the sting out of how I was
treated would be the restoration of the mere pitance of my $1.50 that
he yanked. The removal of a members earned $$$ is not listed anywhere
in the rules that I could see, so I see no reason why it was taken....

Look, I have to spend about 30 minutes deleting CRAP off this board before I can even begin to enjoy the board. I have no choice but to be kurt and look for the relevant bits of information. I do not have time to provide an explanation when the rules are already posted for that purpose.

You are wasting your time arguing with me. You ignored the rules, were flagrantly inconsiderate, and now you are complaining about the lack courtesy? I don't think so.

Let it go, don't spam the board, contribute to the board, follow the rules. I will ignore further correspondence from you as there is no business to discuss here.

I even pointed out blatant discrepancies between what you deemed as my breaking of the rules, and the actions you took as a moderator which were not in accordance with forum guidelines, to which you still have not responded to. So, it was not the deleting of the message that upset me, it was your attitude towards me as a newcomer to the board, your refusal to discuss valid questions asked of you, and the general situation as a whole. If you deem this all to be "pestering" you, I am sorry, I will not contact you again in regards to this situation. I'll take it up with Andrew.

No one else ever posted to it. What you are saying is totally

You also did not reply as to whom the board admin is so that I can take
this above your "senior member" position. What you did to me was wrong,
and I have gone to great lengths to be amicable and explain the situation
and work this out with you. However you have been rather vague and
elusive in your reply back to me, and have not addressed specific
questions (which is what a moderator/admin is supposed to be there for).
Simply put, you saw my posting, immediatly deleted it (not following board
policy for moving what you called spam to the spammer, slammer,
scammer section), took my $$$, and then cannot answer questions
regarding why you did it. In my opinion you should not have moderator
privleges on this board as you yourself cannot even follow board policy
in moderating the board. Again I will ask you, who is the admin, and
I mean the top head honcho of the board.

In my own defense...  Reply with quote

In my own defense, here is what I posted to Andrew, and I'll
say that this will be my last words regarding this issue. I will remain
a member of this board, and only gave a personal review of how I felt
I was treated in regards to this matter. Rolo, I am not holding a grude,
and do not want to continue to banter back and forth in regards to this
matter. I personally (and I'm taking full ownership of how I feel)
felt as though you were not willing to discuss the matter at length nor
answer specific questions. In hindsight, I guess I can understand that in
dealing with people who spam the board on a continual basis, you can
get tired real quick of having to deal with them.

Here is what I posted to Andrew:

Andrew,

First let me introduce myself. Iím XXX XXXXX, and I live in XXXXXXXXXXX, Indiana.
Iím 35 years old, and employed as a Software QA Specialist for XXXXXXXXXX. which
is a government contractor. I am a member of various web forums on different
subjects, and probably post 2 or 3 times a day to any one of them, though this
is the only forum I am a member of / post to that concerns money.

Iím writing this as a complaint against one of your moderators on the board, Rolo.

Background

On the 29th of September, I joined the forum with the intent of trying to find an
investor for a one time investment into an idea I have to make a few bucks to help
me pay off some debt. I admit I did join hastily, and though I did read the forum
posting rules, I know that I had already consumed a few glasses of wine that night,
so might have not read the posting rules very carefully.

I posted my idea / offer, that day, and left it alone. I came back from time to
time to see if anyone had replied, but other than that did nothing to the post.
On the 11th of October, I did come back and bumped the thread (BTT and increased
my offer of return on investment).

Later that day I came back to check it out, and had the following PM:

Rolo has moderated your $:
∑ Removed: $ 1.5

I went to check my posting, and it was still there, but now looked like this:

I immediately send a PM to Rolo:

Might I ask WTF? Why are you yankin' my bucks?

I've broken no rules nor done anything wrong....

I received the following reply:

You keep spamming the board and I have to keep deleting it.

I sent another PM to Rolo:

You need to check that again please. I'm a new member to this board,
and have only posted 7 times. And only one of them had two entries
by me, and they were posted a week apart from each other. In addition,
if you read it before you deleted it and removed my $$$, it had a note
to the moderator of the board at the very top which stated that if I had
posted in the wrong area, to please notify me and or move it to the
right thread. And if it was spam, then why did it get left alone by
all of the admins and moderators from date of posting (29SEPT) up until
you deleted it yesterday? So your reply that says I keep spamming and
you keep having to delete it is not a true statement.

In addition to that, my post did not get posted to spammer
scammer slammer, so what rule did I break?

I'm a member of many web forums, but have to admit this is the first one
I've run across with deletions of post with no explanation. Especially if
the person is new to the board, most moderators help them out by letting
them know that they posted in the wrong area or did something wrong.
However on this board, it looks like your post just get deleted,
your $$$ taken, your post does not get posted to area where if you did
something wrong they are usually sent.... This just makes no sense to me.

I notice you are a senior member, may I ask who the admin of the board is
please as I think there is something very wrong with what you have done here.....

I did not receive a reply.
I sent another PM to Rolo:

Were you going to reply to my PM?

I'm very serious here. I think I was not treated fairly in this situation...

I then received this reply from Rolo:

I am very serious, also, and moderators are not here to "please move to the proper
forum". That is the risk you take when you don't spend the time to read the rules.
Moderators' time is valuable; treat it as such.

Your post was on the board multiple times, either by you or by someone else, and
it was not in the proper forum.

I sent him this PM in response:

If it was on the board multiple times, then it would show under my name if
you do a search under my username. However, if you do this,
you will see that it only had two post. One from Sept 29th,

Rolo replied with the following:

Andrew owns this board. You could have spent less time figuring that out than
you spent pestering me. Why was your spam THIS important? [rhetorical]

I responded with the following:

It was not the message which you called spam that was important. It was your
flipant attitude towards the whole thing and lack of willingness to directly
answer valid questions asked of you as a moderator by another member of the
forum. I also provided you with valid discrepancies between the little you

He Replied back to me with:

Look, I have to spend about 30 minutes deleting CRAP off this board before

look for the relevant bits of information. I do not have time to provide an

I will ignore further correspondence from you as there is no business to
discuss here.

So, here I am, taking the subject up with you.

1. Rolo I is rude
2. Rolo doesnít know the rules himself
3. Rolo canít answer questions directly
4. Definition of SPAM as defined by Wikipedia: Spamming is the use of
any electronic communications medium to send unsolicited messages in
bulk. While its definition is usually limited to indiscriminate bulk
mailing and not any targeted marketing, the term "spam" can refer to
any commercially oriented, unsolicited bulk mailing perceived as being
excessive and undesired.
5. Web definition of Forum Moderator:
Moderator

Definition
moderator
At a forum, someone entrusted by the administrator to help discussions
stay productive and within the guidelines.

Additional Information
Good moderators are essential for good forums; great moderators are
essential for great forums... and the absence of moderators typically
leads to ghost towns inhabited only by spam bots.

Basic moderator duties include deleting or modifying inappropriate posts,
educating newcomers about forum guidelines, and possibly deleting accounts
of repeat offenders. Additionally, moderators may be experts in their field
who can help minimize unanswered questions.

I feel as though you have a loose cannon running around the board. If I
posted in the wrong place, especially with my notice at beginning of
message to board moderators, you would think he ( or you, or any other
mod / admin ) would have told me what I did wrong, and why he moved the
post to the spammer, scammer, slammer. But, oh, wait a minute, he did not
move it there. He just deleted the text I had in my posting, and labeled me
as a spammer ( killing any chance I even remotely thought I had of finding
a investor on this board ). As per forum guidelines, if you post something
inappropriately, it gets moved to the spammer, scammer, slammer. When he
was asked specific questions and even provided with procedure to check the
info for himself? No specific response from Rolo. When asked why it was
not posted to spammer, scammer, slammer? No response from Rolo in regards
to this question either.

When asked who the main Admin for the board was? Received a really smart
ass response, implying that asking such trivial questions of a moderator is,
and I quote "Pestering Me".

In my personal opinion (and I am taking full ownership here and only speaking of
my personal experience), Rolo should not be a moderator. He lacks the judgement
and people skills required to effectively moderate a board.

Andrew, in closing, you have a very nice board here. Iíve learned some
things by perusing the different posting, and gleaned what I could from
the experience of others. However, as stated above, the success of a
great forum depends on great moderators, and I think you need to get
one of them under control.

Thanks for your time,

XXX XXXXXXXX

I've been both deleted and banned without explanation on other boards.

One one forum a post in the proper forum was deleted in the home busisness section. The mod there thought I was promoting the I-Pod deal. Didn't even bother to read before she deleted. I was excited that I wone a trafic pod. She said no one there was intrested; but, I had two people join from Forumgarden before she so rudely deleted a post in the proper section.

Also posted in the "Members' News
A forum for ForumGardeners to post news about themselves." where I not only mentioned winning a free Trafic Pod I mentioned that I wone 10% off my groceries for a month!!!

It is kind of exciting to win stuff:)

Initially I did not realize that "Lady Cop" had deleted my post so I re-e-posted just thinking that I thought about posting but didn't post or that my post did not stick.

I haven't even oppened any of these sent by Lady Cop on forum garden.

Guess most of the other mods find me humorus. I'm sure she would get rid of me if she could.

When I even made mention of a spamar slamer over their anastrophe asked me if I wanted to be banned.

are you desirous of being banned?
