The vast majority of Britons are overrating their savings, a new report finds.
This is because three people in four do no consider the impact inflation will have on their nest eggs when choosing where to invest their money, National Savings and Investments reveals.

You know what? I never really thought about it that way. Probably because I'm still in my twenties and while I do think about the long road ahead, I haven't considered my 'inflated' savings. Going to read the article now...

I don't 'save', I invest. One cannot retire comfortably on 'savings'. Well, unless one really likes beenie-weenies.

This is a good point. Most people think of market volatility as the only risk to their savings and believe that by chosing conservative investments their accounts won't loose value. In reality this exposes them to another risk - the risk of loosing their savings value due to inflation.
