Well the question branches into 2 subtopics :
1) Size &
2)Duration

Based on these 2 factors, MPEG-2 is the best video format as it has great qulaity as well as it only uses only 4.7 GB for 2 hours.
DV-AVI is another good format with much better quality but it uses around 25 GB for 60 mins of video.

I think it depends on what I'm looking at or what I'm recording. I watch movies in format MPEG-2. I love to take pictures and record videos. For this, I use my camera with a good photo matrix and drone. I have an inexpensive drone, but with a good HD camera. If you doubt that they exist, here http://droneadvisor.tech/atts/for-video-recording is a list of drones with good cameras. The quality of the recording is just super, managing the drone isn't as difficult as I thought. I also use other video formats. These are mainly AVI, MOV, FLV formats. Video quality is average, but they take up little space.

I know that many people store movies on old DVDs. I prefer movies in the another extension, but in order to convert the file and improve the quality of the video, you must first copy the movie to your computer or laptop, for this I use this software https://www.freemake.com/free_dvd_ripper/ . I like the programs from this developer because they are simple, functional and free. This is really what you need if you want to rip a movie file from disk.
