401K help  Reply with quote

Hi all,
I would like to know what happens to my 401k fund, if I had to leave the country or move to another country. what are the options I have to avoid the maximum penalties. Can some one answer this?

Thanks in advance

Nothing. You will still hold the account, just let the custodian know what your new address is.

You could roll over the account (assuming you're leaving this employer) into an IRA for more flexibility, but otherwise, nothing needs to be done (unless I've missed something!).

That's what I was thinking too, but wasn't sure.

Thanks, Jim.
