Hi,
Trying to budget for a month trip to California this September. Can anyone please advise where i could find out about the taxes on purchases? I know that in Hawaii, for example, once you factor in a 20% tip, the state taxes for a motorway system, etc. etc. what started out costing $10 costs an awful lot more!! We dont have tipping in New Zealand and have only one real tax but i suspect once you factor in our exchange rate, this is going to prove to be an expensive exercise which will require careful budgeting. Any suggested resources?
Please help.

California has among the highest taxes in the country. Its build deals tax rate of 7. 25% is higher than that of any other state, and its top marginal income tax rate of 13. 3% is the highest state income tax rate in the nation over.
