Saving for Multiple Items (Short-Term): Question  Reply with quote

Hey guys,

Question from a newbie:

I find myself often saving for multiple items, short-term things and I'd like to find an easy and efficient method of tracking and saving for them.

Example:
Let's say I have 4 things I'm saving for:
1) Nutritionist consultation ($300)
2) Pair of boots ($150)
3) Water filtration system ($300)
4) Jacket ($50)

Of course I could add these up for a total of $800 and just save up $800 towards these things and put it all into one savings account. However, since the list is constantly changing and I'm adding things, I'd like to be able to save in a way that breaks it down (i.e. an app or accounts that separates this out into 4 categories with the dollar amount of each item, and how much I've saved for each item so far, for example: $150 saved for item #1 with goal of $300).

I hope this makes sense, please let me know of any great solutions. Much appreciated!

What about order of importance assuming you will have disposable cash to spend each month.

Yes order of importance helps. However I'd like to have a system that can track multiple saving goals of varying amounts, and lets me know how much towards each goal I'm at. Something besides the impractical solution of opening multiple savings accounts. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance!
