quote: Originally posted by Bacala I have a 401k with Fidelity. I am invested in funds that invest using your age and retirement date. I plan on retiring in 8 years max. I don't think my account is were it should be based on my contributions and percentage ive been putting in for a long number of years. I called fidelity and they agreed that I should be doing better. They offered that I let them manage my money by transferring money to a fidelity IRA. They will manage my money based on my goals. I am not good at investing and want to know if I should keep the money or let them invest for me. He said its a lot cheaper going with fidelity rather than a financial adviser on the outside.
I've always hated the age-based mutual funds. For one thing, the fees are usually onerous.
Everyone at your work has the same 401k fund options, right? Maybe the first step is to examine the other fund options on the website and talk to some of your coworkers to see what they are doing.
