Does anyone here regularly contribute to any charity by means of auto-charge to your credit card? If yes, what experience/s do you have so far (good / bad)?

I have been using my credit cards for shopping only and other expenses. Actually, I'm not familiar yet with the auto charge especially in terms of donations.

Marketing people have studied these methods to optimize the contributions, the $16 to $19 month is about max, that amounts to about $200 per year. Most people don't realize that they are contributing $200/y because it is so painless and easy.

Wounded vets, rescue dogs, save the elephants, save dolphins, and so on, are very successful. They draw millions, much of it goes to the TV Ads, the ads are very long, several minutes, they are designed to be tear-jerkers, they focus on guilt-tripping. (You're a bad person if you don't save puppies). Unfortunately, much (over 50%) of your contribution goes to overhead, the TV spots, etc.

IMO, it's better to make a one-time lump contributions to the charities that you care about - that money is more likely to actually go to the actual cause.

Hello there! I have no idea about it, but I'll let you know by asking my friend, as he contributed to many charities for helping the people. Nowadays he is also raising charity for the orphanages living in Benin by participating in mission humanitaire program from this site for the great cause.

Always check out a site like Charity Navigator if you want to know exactly what your money goes to, and in what proportions!
I have recently started to use the automatic CC monthly withdrawal for two well managed and trustworthy charities. Since I set the withdrawal amount up front, I do know how much I am donating annually.

donation to a society in South Africa  Reply with quote

I want to make a donation to a society in South Africa, and I have to convert my rand to us dollar , to make the donation, luckily the price is 12.6695 ZAR, I think the bank gave me a very market price.

It is always gratifying to give to the most needy
