David, my understanding is that they won't let you twist in the wind, as there is a desire to get the downline people over the hump, but the issue remains that this system is based on a 2-up pyramid. If you were going to sell the product it would be okay, but nobody really sells the product, they sell the opportunity to sell the opportunity, if you know what I mean.

EPI just recently added a Real Estate module to the Wealth and Self Home Study eCourse, the product that many people who do not have a clue about what it is about but love to put down with sweeping unsubstiantiated accusations that run all accross the board. The information in this real estate module alone could pay for the cost of the course when put to work in the real estate world.
The problem with most people on the outside of EPI looking in, is that they simply do not make the effort to gather sufficient information to make an informed judgment. We now have on our Profitmasters Movie website a new flash presentation about each module of the product that goes into quite a bit of detail for those who want to know. The other thing that is completely wrong is when someone calls EPI a pyramid, mild or otherwise. A pyramid is defined by state law as the payment for the recruiting of new people into an organization. A review by a District Attorney prior to an indictment would be required before any business opportunity would legally be deemed to be a pyramid.
EPI does not pay to recruit anyone. Period! We have an ongoing adult education course that is for sale if someone wants to buy it. The purchase of the course is not linked to becoming a Distributor of the Product. In fact, anyone who wants to become a Distributor can do so for $99 for the first year. In exchange for this $99 they will receive their own personally branded Emerald Passport website which they can use to promote the sale of the eCourse with the rights of a Distributor of the Product. There is no commission paid when someone signs up to become a Distributor. There is a commission wnen the product is sold.
We are a direct sales company not MLM. Our compensation plan is something that seems to give some people a problem. I think this simply is because it is not properly understood. Some people say that it is not right to pass up a sale to the Director. This is an emotional reaction some people have when the pay plan mechanics are explained to someone who is listening to only what they want to hear. In other words their mind is made up. Never mind the facts!
Let's take a look at it from a different viewpoint. Suppose I were to offer you a business opportunity for $3,885 that you could very likely develop into an annual income of $100,000 working from the comfort of your home with minimal operating expenses. Naturally, you would have to fund these operating expenses which historically have been under 10% of gross sales, leaving you with a clear $90,000. Don't you think that many people would jump at such an opportunity? I know I did.
Well let's make it even better. Let's suppose I were to offer you the entire package for only $1,295 with the understanding that I would credit you for the additional $2,590 if you simply brought me two new customers to purchase the Home Study course at the retail price. Under this scenario, would you look at your options? I know that many people do. When you make two sales with an in-house cost of about 10% of the selling price it would cost you $259 to create a value of $2,590. Not a bad return on your time and promotional expenses.
To make things even sweeter, suppose I were to also offer you the necessary training, tips and guidance to reach your goal of $100,000+ per year starting right after you were to sign-up with me. Well that is exactly what we have with this compensation plan. The more help and support a Director can give his team members the more successfull they all will be. Would I give you a guarantee that you will be able to reach this goal. Simple answer. No. How can I make such a guarantee? You might come in and then just sit around and do nothing. I don't have any control over you. You are your own boss. We will simply be working together. But I will tell you that if you go out and sell the Product that some people will buy it. I also will tell you that if you advertise the EPI package properly that you will have many takers over a short period of time. Indeed, you will be able to build a team of people who like both the product and the opportunity. As you build your team you will be making money and if you learn what we teach, then your success will be assured.
As for people who say that the Product is only purchsed because of the opportunity. This is off of the mark by a long shot. There are many kinds of products like this that have an opportunity of sime kind attached to them. Buy the product and you also gain access to an opportunity. Kind of like having a Mercedes-Benz. It is a nice car, but it is also nice to DRIVE the car because that is why you bought it. It will take you somewhere! You see you have the car and you also have the opportunities that it provides when you drive it somewhere. If we only were to buy the opportunity to get around, then nobody would own cars. We would all be taking taxi's.
