It used to be the Lire - 'till the dogs shredded it of all life and limb.

Not all countries can afford... a lavish monarchy.

LOONIE Is BEST CURRENCY In TODAYS PENDING ECONOMIC COLLAPSE  Reply with quote

Interesting,

You have to be a loonie to think the U.S. dollar is the best currency, this is no longer true, and when next round of funny money printing is announced, this will spell disaster for the dollar just as we see happening with Euro. The CAN loonie is a far better currency for those who do not want to invest in silver or gold.

The markets are too unstable to think any currency is the best, but if given a choice, I will stick with the loonie. CAN does not have the $16T and exploding deficits, nor are their banks exposed to the same devaluation of homes we see here in U.S. We are back to 1992 levels, and this is not a good sign for economy. You can no longer define a recession in traditional terms for we have never had this much debt before or so many false unemployment numbers, never mind other indicators used to evaluate economy.

Things are far worse than most know, from the real unemployment numbers of up to 15% plus, to the deficit which is far in excess of the reported $16,000,000,000.000.00 we hear on TV. If you are lucky enough to have any savings, do not think your U.S. dollar is sound, it is not. We have seen the shaky world markets kick the can down the road for decades, just as we have seen in the U.S., and as we will soon learn is not the answer, so stick with CAN loonie, AU dollar or Swiss franc, even the Iraqi dinar would be a better choice than the U.S. dollar. And for maximum safety, go with U.S. silver and gold coins.

I agree, yet remember that not too long ago the loonie was weak vs. the US Dollar. Times change; the fortunes of fiat currencies change. Thinking any one fiat currency is the best is ... can I say it? loonacy! Laughing

Agreed,

The loonie was always less than U.S. dollar for years, about 30%, but my how times have changed. CAN is not running 16 trillion dollar defecits, no foreclosure crisis, lower unemployment, oil reserves which are so plentiful they have to unload it to others, hopefully U.S. through Keystone pipelne. When you add all these together, we will never see the loonie worth less than the dollar again in our lifetimes.

It was the dollar which was worth more, not so much the loonie which has gained, but the dollar lost value over the past decade. And when you look at any currency play, you look for stability, and the U.S. dollar is about to tank when QE3 is announced. You pump a trillion more into economy and what happens, dollar devalues big time, especially with ever increasing debt, the system is broke, time to see U.S. file bankruptcy again and stop kicking the can down the road as political football.

Just a drop in the bucket compared to the last century --- oddly enough --- pretty much coincident with the period of time the Federal Reserve System has been in existence, with one of its functions being "stable prices", but ....

... oops ...

the dollar today is worth about three cents in 1913 terms.

Hmmmm .....

It does seem the Fed is not doing a very good job at what they were charged to do. Shocked

You don't suppose their other mandate of managing the money supply to promote full employment conflicts with their mandate to manage the money supply to maintain price stability?

And what's a bank doing mucking about with employment, anyhoo?

Agreed,

The FED is a disaster, total fraud as I see it, self serving, and with the pressure to do a full audit, then the truth about these crooks will be out for all to see. When everyone sees the real deficit numbers, their jaws will drop as things are three times worse than fisrt thought. And as I see it, the dollar wiill be back to .13 again real soon. What goes up always comes down eventually, so a hundred year anniversary sounds about right for total collapse of dollar to happen.
