Malwarebytes is an anti malware software, and its free version only offers on-demand scan. The free version does not provide real time protection, this feature is only available in its paid version.
Anyway, my laptop came pre installed with Windows 7 (64-bit) and Norton anti virus. But since norton is paid, and my usage of internet is not too much, so I use a free anti virus software.
Currently I've Avira in my laptop and it is doing a decent job.
However, if you want to consider a paid anti virus, you can go for kaspersky or norton. Both are good.

BitDefender Antivirus is a best virus solution.BitDefender is one of the best antivirus with top class defending ability. It provides hourly definition updates for latest threats. BitDefender comes with P2P File Sharing and Registry Startup Protection but lacks Email scanning.

I use Kaspersky Internet security. It is very effective for malware and spam sites.
