I've used both Tax Cut and Turbo Tax and I think Turbo Tax is the clear winner; and it's even better this year; though one gripe I have is that they are getting a bit too insistent about upgrading to the next higher level. I've always used the Deluxe version, and for some fairly complicated tax issues as well, and found that to be completely adequate.

I have used turbo tax, hr block and taxact. They all seem to be about the same, however turbo tax really gouges business owers. Taxact provides the business and individual at the price hr block charges just for individual.

I've got to admit that TaxACT, by 2nd Story Software, does look interesting, and very attractively priced. I've never tried it, but if I have the time I might do a side-by-side this year with TaxACT and TurboTax like I did one year with TurboTax and Tax Cut.
What I found interesting doing my side-by-side tax prep with two different products was that they came up with different numbers, and this with all the same inputs and with forms and calculations IRS approved. I wonder if different people at the IRS are reviewing and approving these products, and whether they're talking to each other? Apparently not.

Oh, just a matter of a few dollars, I don't really remember exactly, but more than could be accounted for by rounding error.
Which was correct? I have no idea. I filed with TurboTax simply because that was my preferred program. What caught my eye about the TaxACT product was their guarantee that they'd pay for any errors their software made. I suppose there's a little matter of proving that, which if you're going to have to do your whole return with scratchpads and a calculator to find where they're wrong then there's no reason to have the product in the first place.

I use to do reviews on amazon then they edited out something and basically they raised the price and in my review I was saying it was a good value. And it was when I posted that but they upped the price.

Turbo Tax is very user friendly. I actually took the H&R Block tax prep course a few years back, and it was pretty comprehensive. I never worked for them because their pay was really low. It all depends on how complex your tax issues are. I feel comfortable with Turbo Tax, and it is cheaper.

Trubo tax has always been a little questionable to me. I'd say go for H & R Block to be safe.

Is there a good calculator to determine how to zero out your taxes so you don't pay in and you don't get a return. We messed up this year, we had a kid in 2011 and we got a return which I don't ever want, so I want to try and close to 0 as possible.
