My Contemplations - For The Love of Money  Reply with quote

Hey, Im a newbie here.

Money is always constantly on my mind. It's not because of greed but I know it'll secure lives. I understand the concept of not money itself but the process which invoves making money. It makes me feel good to know that I am capable of it- without a 9-5.

I've tried an MLM, made a little bit of money. Quit. So now I'm picking up small change by selling subwoofers, car seats, or bikes. I buy somewhere for cheap and sell it back for maximum $20.00 profit. I know it's little but I feel good making $20.00. It's so much of a hassle- picking up the item bought and try to sell it back. Waste of time I feel sometime. This is the only way I know how. I'm in a University right now, but I know making love to books won't really get me anywhere except with a PhD, which is something I won't get. So I'm just trying to graduate with a Masters and open my own business or Real Estate Investing.

I'm pretty sure there's a lot of ways to make money legally. Do any of you have any advices on what I can do to better what I'm doing now or have any ideas on what I can do.

Please, no network marketing pyramid schemes, I had my share of that.

To pretty much sum it all, I'm a college student who's trying to get up with cash and the satisfaction of small success. Any ways possible, though I might be weak in corporate, but any suggestions will help. Thanks.

Hello even if you don't like MLM.

But if you were a real MLMer you would not have quit.

I think it is genetic like ADD.

The founder of Amway once said that once a mind expands it does not retract or something like that.

I married in to realestate. That is one option for those who aren't born with it.

You are right. I am not a MLMer. It doesn't work for me. How's your marriage with Real Estate?

The rent is almost due for this month and the renters still owe over $100 for last month. Lots of houses in our area are getting reduced. And no one ever wants to sell a house for less then they paid so there will be resistance keeping the prices high. One house on my block is on it's 2nd realitor. Wife paid 180K and we could get 200K now but a few years ago we leased it with rent to buy option at 230K. 230K seems to be a minimum that the wife would let it go.

My rentors need to find a 3rd person to share the rent again. Their other guy not on the lease skipped out on them to live with his girlfriend.

REITS down 5% ytd but I've moved much of that to NEW ERA which has been on a tear so I may soon have the delema with it as I had with the REITS.

Was going to move the REIT to Dividend Growth but one of the top holdings is a tobaco company so I have been timid on that.

Might move the rest of the REIT fund to capatal apprication. Perhpas it is penny wise pound foolish not to move it all at once. But I was dollar cost averaging in and anymoney moved out before a year has a 2% redemption fee and I'm fee phobic. Reits almost took a 3% hit the other day but I've still had 2% days on the positive side as well.
