IT Support: Working With Personal Data Files  Reply with quote

Any recommendations on how to categorize and work with personal data files locally and for remote backups? What I normally do (now days) is periodically zip into categories and upload the updated categories to Amazon Cloud. I have used remote and localhost for FTP, PHP/MySql, and flat-file databases; but it's been a while (rusty). If dbase, I'd need to work with sections/tables. Is there anything out there now days which uses one install package and is complete? CMS? What appeals to me is having everything in a single file/location and out of the average Joe's typical OS meddling/hacking mentality/capacity: Atypical, but nothing extravagant. Any ideas on how you might proceed?
Thanks in Advance...

Office CMS? Google Docs dbase solution?
More research, and the technology is still fairly new, lagging.

This one is interesting (Google Apps):

OpenOffice also has integration with Alfresco CMS:

Microsoft Sharepoint:

Looks like Wordpress with Google Docs Viewer would work best (for now).

You need remote backups (quake, fire, power surges, death). I want all data (everything) on the cloud so that I can access & update it from anywhere; even from the other side. Rolling Eyes

Think PC or SmartPhone with no software (NONE):
Google Docs (apps) with Gmail & Wallet can handle finance/accounting.
Combine with Google Voice for Address book and Marketing.
Google Fusion and Code for database and scripts.
Google Site or Wordpress for Web Presence (displays google doc/pic/video).
