I see how buying and selling domains can be profitable... but i would much rather get a domain and buidl it up and constantly make money off of it instead of constantly buying and selling....

Honestly thats what I would prefer to do!!! but I really don't know how I can build it up. I would like to build it up to 6 figures a year...any suggestions?

Provide a useful product or service.
Domain name squatting isn't really a good way to go. If you've got a brand name and the rightful owner wants it, you will most likely lose it at a loss. If you've got a very short domain name, 2 or 3 letters, you might be able to make some bucks. Anything else is not likely to earn.
And please don't spam our forums with your domain name posts. A page with ads isn't a very good resource, and besides you were breaking the forum rules. Promotions have designated locations. Read the rules please, they are posted at the top of each forum.

My question would be then what value do you add to them that then you can turn around and sell them for a profit?

Since there is no bank that goes by "first chicago bank" then you aren't cybersquatting, that's good. But the downside, is that there isn't a demand for this name as far as I know.
Anyway, you can "legally" obtain domain names that don't really belong to you. For example, if back in the early days I had registered "cocacola.com", it would have been a legal transaction. But the reality is that when CocaCola takes me to Internet court, they will win no question, and I would lose that domain name with out even a simple recoup of costs.
