I like ESET NOD32 (Windows) and ESET Cybersecurity (Mac)
The only caveat is that the Mac product creates a pretty noticeable performance hit if all the protection is turned on.

Various anti virus like Avast, Quick Heal, Kaspersky,AVG and many more available in the market. The software which provide the features like get started effectiveness, ease of installation, provide protection, security and support is the best one. According to me Quick Heal is the best one.

If you're looking for a free anti-virus then Avast is the way to go. Avast couples good all-around malware detection with a speedy, well-designed package. It's also easy to install, and minimal impact on system performance. If it's for a paid anti-virus, I would go with Kapersky. It's easy to install and use, with a good interface and some attractive extra features.

I've used both the AVG and Avast free versions. They're both very good and quite adequate for usual home use. My preference is for Avast.

Avast versus AVG; Avast has slightly better user rating and is 1/3 the size
(majorgeeks). Yet, AVG has 7 times the number of downloads.

3.5 million versus half million downloads. Why? Well, Avast never came up in my original research, and I merely went with the top rating otherwise. I'm testing Avast now, just to get the feel of it.

I think AVG has been around for quite a while longer, so it's probably just time exposure. Can't think it would be marketing ... for a free product?
I think you'll find Avast to be a pretty decent application; not a lot of bells and whistles on the free version, but it's one of those applications that are pretty much install and forget .... an advantage for the average computer user.
Let us know what you think.....

Avast has been around, and is quite good. I just find it sometimes annoying that with its presence, sometimes some of my browsers do not open well. Otherwise, it is fine.

I reformat monthly, and so I don't need antivirus. I just keep it around for repair jobs. What I'd really like to have is a good firewall: One gives me option for every single in/out transaction (updates and loggers). Just that I'd like to know what's going on (like the old days).

Holy cow ....
Reformat/clean install/all apps + data used to take me up to four days on Windows XP.
Never have had to do that on my Mac.
