High Frequency Trading is 53% of Total Market Activity  Reply with quote

High Frequency Trading is 53% of Total Market Activity Today. They're basically like bank robbers; select and then shear or slaughter equities. Anyone heard any news on this topic as far as regulation? All I've read is that the SEC is investigating, weighing it all out.

Here's a quote from CNBC a few days ago:
“High frequency trading are firms using high speed, co-located servers at exchanges to trade ahead of bids and offers from real investors by fractions of a penny for nanoseconds,” said Jon Najarian of TradeMonster.com. Quote: “If the SEC sits idly by then the U.S. capital markets will collapse. Nanosecond trading will give way to picosecond trading and so forth. All they do is push out any other potential real liquidity provider with their fake liquidity.”

I'm absolutely, without a doubt, totally, incurably, shameless.

Very Happy

"fake liquidity" ..... ya, great term .... have to remember that.

You seem to be able to wrap your head around the complexities... I posted on bogleheads and M* and the thread really took off. I'm mainly just feeling the two out.

Ya, I'll say. Any chance of a Money-Talk mention? (Not at the risk of being slammed as a spammer, though.) I was just thinking how lively things could get around here if we had some of those members here, too.

As for mentioning money-talk;
Guess I should have posted here, then pointed them here.
May try that next time.
