I think after retirement one should do something special of one's own choice. You should do some hobby courses, learning any language or learning any other skill. There is no age bar for learning any thing. You may also consider the idea of doing some charitable work, like education to under previledge children, carreer couscelling etc

I'll probably make something like a bucket list, all the things I want to do alone or with my family. Of course before I retire I'll make sure first that my finances and my family are protected well by means of LTC or life insurance.

Well, if someone thinks retirement will be boring, they apparently have no hobby or community or intellectual interests. I am retired, although I am still interested in income-producing endeavors and may be engaging in the same if I find the opportunity.

I've become a volunteer instructor for a local computer user's group that conducts a series of computer classes for senior citizens. I'll be teaching 4 hours a week in next 6-week session starting later this month.

I continue to sing in a church choir, something I started long before retiring.

This summer, I decided to try some bird watching and it's been interesting. I've seen more Northern Cardinals and American Goldfinches this summer than I've seen during my entire life before this time.

More leisure time for reading can be enriching. Libraries are a great resource. Be sure to take advantage of them.

In general, being receptive to, inquisitive about, and willing to try, new things should keep anyone from getting bored.

Great advice for anyone of any age. And you don't need to spend a lot. Wink

I guess in my retirement, I will do multiple online earning projects just for fun, with multiple facebook accounts. I will try to explore the internet more.

Retirement does not mean that the world has to stop, and one just simply sits around waiting for time. Retirement, for me, means that it is already time that one will not be under the obligation to work anymore, and that nobody will claim that one is a bum for not working. With this, if I were in my retirement years, I guess I would still involve myself in something else that might not be that demanding. It is actually the fact that one is involved in something that counts, and that's what I intend to do. I can most probably sit on our porch and wonder how this computer works, and learn about it, and maybe start fixing computers and designing them on the side.

I retired several months ago. For me, every day is an adventure. I can do **anything** I want and that is incredibly refreshing. I am teaching courses for seniors, I am heavily into gardening, do lots of walking, visit with friends, etc, etc. Life is wonderful!!!

As for me, I guess I would put up a small restaurant. The restaurant would not really be for income generation. It would just be a place for me to see my work and achievement move around right before my eyes. It does not have to earn so much, but of course it should not be losing money. Therefore, I guess even just a coffee shop would do best. There I can have a place to relax and see people enjoying my masterpiece, and they have to pay for it.

Stop planning and just do whatever you feel like doing. Life is too short to waste on planning stuff. Retirement time should be about pampering yourself and living life to the fullest. Smile
