Anybody here ever trade oil futures?  Reply with quote

There is a secret out about oil at the website Oil Trading Academy. They claim that the entire oil market is controlled by a computer and they are making fortunes out of it. Have you heard about this? Do you think it could really be true?

Yes, I've traded crude oil futures (and options) and there's absolutely no truth in that. It's just another scapegoat to take the blame away from the real reasons for oil prices: (1) supply and demand, and (2) value of the dollar.

I don't think so this can be possible for a person. Commodity exchange is a big exchange and it is very difficult to control it by a person. There are many things like coaster said that demand and supply, economy etc, which really affects the market.

Yeah sure, Commodity markets define and trade contracts for delivery of any product or service that can be characterized in an interchangeable way. They are complex, and include a wide array of instruments to manage risk.
