congrats on the minimum monthly-stop using the cards. Now call all the cardholders and ask nicely if they have any options to lower interest- or reduce fees. Create a workable budget and try to pay off the highest interest stuff first. There is nothing a debt management program can do that you can't do on your own. Creating the budget is the key. Living by it is the magic.

A credit counseling agencies goal is to put a consumer (that is need of it) into a debt management plan for two primary reasons 1) if you have a debt management plan you and your counselor will be able to negotiate with your creditors 2) it sets a plan down on when, and how much to pay into your debt.

Debt management is more than making sure you have enough funds to pay the bills. It is also about keeping your debt small enough so that the money or income you are receiving is sufficient to pay off the debt. Debt is not necessarily a bad thing. It does have it good points. But you lose the good points when your debt starts to exceed your income.
No company in existence today could have gotten where there are today if they didn't go into debt. Again it goes back to making sure that the debt doesn't overpower you. This is the current problem in United States today. We have become a debtor nation where what are we taking in is getting to the point of not covering the bills we have to pay. When that happens and continues bankruptcy is right around the corner.

Work hard to earn the money you wanted. Spend on the things needed than the things wanted. Live within your means, you shall be debt free. Theoretically, but that doesn't mean it is not doable.

Debt Management explained by itself and it's pretty obvious, which is to manage your debt. There are many ways on how to manage your debts based from your lifestyle. Go to yahoo or google and type these keywords and you will get thousands of companies who'll try to sell you their services. I recommend not to use them, instead, just discipline your spending habit.

It's a macroeconomic issue in the sense of -- A Debt Management Plan (DMP) is a method used in various countries for paying personal unsecured debts. Typically, such debts are out of control – payments are late and/or take too large a portion of income, or even exceed it. A DMP usually involves a third party organization that looks at all or some of the debts, assessing income and budget, and re-negotiating interest rates and payments with the lenders. The negotiated rates and payment plan is based upon the probability of a higher likelihood of collection by the lenders in light of the debtor's more realistic monthly repayment.
And on a personal level or corporate/business level it is managing your debt and optimizing your debt to make sure your company is profitable or your income is profitable while taking on Good debt (debt which can create assets such as real estate)
