Student Loan  Reply with quote

Not sure what to do....
My Fiance currently has a private student loan for nearly $7,500 with rate of 18%. His monthly payment is about $235.
I feel that the 18% is a bit steep. Any ideas on what we could do to lower the interest rate?
The loan is from Genesis lending.
I believe he has been with the lender for about a year and a half.
Both of us are young with little to no credit. Tried consolidating with Wells Fargo and he was denied. Tried under by name and I need a co-signer and unable to get one.

Any helpful ideas would be nice.
thanks

That interest rate should be criminal. Evil or Very Mad

This is a case where parents to cosign would be the best solution, but I assume you've already tried that route. I'm sorry I can't think of anything else right off the top.....

Lenders and student loan consolidation unsecured loan made by the government underwriting assistance. The government assistance, student loans are not feasible, no. Lenders and loan money that you will find other profitable arenas. Date with sufficient financial and reasonable manner without the help of a parent - a low-interest student loans to anyone will be able to. Like any government sponsored program, there are rules and regulations dealing with bureaucracy. In the case of student loan red tape, financial aid (federal student aid free application) to get everything starts with a form called.

Try contacting Genesis Landing and ask them what you could do to lower the interest rate. Whatever they tell you, try to abide by what they say. If they say nothing, contact a 3rd party lender and ask their advice. They might be able to help you get out of it and switch to them with a lower interest rate.
