At what age is it appropriate to give your child a cell phone, I am not for it but I like the fact that they will have it in case of an emergency.

It's really hard to say, I would give them a prepaid phone with $5.00 on it so they wouldn't abuse it, maybe at 14.

I figure as soon as they are old enough to go to school on their own. But as long as I take them to school and fetch them afterward, no cellphones.

I am personally not buying my kids phones. They can have one when they can pay for it. If that be 12 or 25 thats ok with me ;D
I think a phone payment is a great way to teach kids to have some financial responsibility. It was my first payment when I was a kid, and I think it actually helped me alot.

I think the best time that you can give kids their cell phones is when they are around ten or eleven. By that time, they are now able to comprehend that phones are not mere playthings

I think it also depends on responsibility. Some 13 or 14 year olds are more responsible than some 16 or 17 year olds.

There is definitely no hard and fast rule, it depends on the child. I think you should wait until they get their license.

I would say when they hit high school - 9th grade. That seems reasonable. And with cell phone plans now too you can just do family plans and you can do tracking devices too!!! I would add that tracking device and not tell them!!!

Kids created considerable controversy upon its release in 1995, and caused much public debate over its artistic merit, even receiving an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. It was later released without a rating.
