There is no such thing as "extra money". Those who buy off impulse and emotion believe in that term. Blowing $400 of "extra money" in the same evening you get it says you don't have a money problem you have a self discipline problem and discerning the difference between needs and wants.
Before doing that again, ask yourself, if I didn't have this money would I be doing this? If it is nothing you "need" to buy, put the "extra money" in an interest accruing account.

Well said!!! You basically just stated that you know what is wrong and you know hwo to fix it... you just need to do it!!!!
