Strong US corporate earnings fueled a cross-asset rally, and lingering sovereign credit risk provided underlying support to the metal and this directly took the precious metal gold on a high note.
Gold is viewed as a safe haven during times of economic uncertainty. It had seen limited gains earlier this week as financial markets anticipated that most euro zone banks would pass stress tests on Friday.
Bill O'Neill, partner of New Jersey-based commodities firm LOGIC Advisors said: "The better European data really seems to change psychology, and the excellent earnings numbers have created amore positive economic outlook that is supportive of gold."
The August contract for gold settled up $3.80 at $1,195.60 an ounce.

I have seen that the Gold (XAU) strengthened by 0.7% closing at 1168.4$ an ounce.

For investors adopting some exposure to gold looks sensible. The only question is whether to jump now or wait-and-see whether global or emerging markets first tumble, and produce a better entry price to buy the yellow metal.
